The Surlingham Ferry House was the venue chosen for this years Southern Broads meet. The event was attended by 13 boats and crews over the weekend of 29-30th June. The Hampton Safari Club long range weather forecasting technique held up once again as we experienced very warm, fine sunny weather, yet again!
Sonia, Lin, and the full front and back house teams made us truly welcome as we enjoyed the facilities of the grounds, bar, and restaurant during our stay. On arrival, our reserved moorings were fully marked up and ready and waiting for us, such that marshalling our arrivals, and managing stern on moorings was much simpler than it has been at some previous venues in recent years...

Our group dinner on Saturday evening was a triumph of organisation and logistics by Sonia and the Kitchen team serving around 30 different meal combinations to 23 guests all in the same short time span, in addition to the "normal" (!) order intake from the remainder of the restaurant and outside tables! Very impressive service and great food too, thoroughly enjoyed by all, accompanied by various beers, wines and other assorted drinks!!
The following morning, those with hearty appetites took advantage of the splendid breakfast menu and among the conversation topics were individual plans and destinations following our departure. Several crews opted to venture up to Norwich to do the "Bridge Run" navigating along the river Wensum through the city to the limit of navigation at New Mills Bridge.
Having completed the same "expedition" a couple of years back with it being High Water at Norwich Yacht Station as we passed through, we knew that we were tide independent as Hampton Safari's could make it under each of the lowest bridges with ease, so six boats and crews opted for making the return journey into and out of Norwich before looking for a convenient overnight mooring anywhere on the return journey...
